A friend shared this anonymous writing with me and I was so encouraged by it that I decided to share it here at Unnesting (with edits for consistency). My prayer is that it gives you new eyes to see His hand in the world events that are impacting you and your young adult children.
Don’t feel sorry or fearful for your kids because the world they are growing up in is not what it used to be.
God created them and called them for the exact moment in time that they are in. Their life wasn’t a coincidence or an accident.
Raise them up to know the power they walk in as children of God.
Train them up in the authority of His Word.
Teach them to walk in faith knowing that God is in control.
Empower them to know that God has a plan for their lives, a good plan for good works that will change the world. Don’t teach them to be fearful and disheartened by the state of the world. Instead, train them to watch, with hopeful expectation, for the opportunities to do the good He prepared long ago for them to do (Ephesians 2:10).
Every person in all of history has been placed in the time that they were in because of God’s sovereign plan.
God planned for Daniel and His plans included equipping Daniel to handle the lion’s den,
and equipping David to handle Goliath.
God equipped Esther to handle Haman,
and He equipped Peter to handle persecution.
Your children are part of God’s sovereign plan. He will equip them to handle whatever challenges they face in their lives. He created them specifically for it!
Resist fear and know that you are highly favored, for God chose you to parent the generation that is facing the biggest challenges of our lifetime. Rise to the challenge.
Raise Daniels, Davids, Esthers, and Peters!
God isn’t scratching His head wondering what He’s going to do with this mess of a world.
He has an army He’s raising up to drive back the darkness and make Him known all over the earth.
Watch with joy the good God is doing in and through your children, the greatness He is calling them to. Your young adult children – they were born for such a time as this. And so were you.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.
